Comments:
.11 electrics are the strings i have used the 2nd most throughout the past 20+ years.  I started using .11s toward the end of the 80's on my Strat with a Floyd Rose.  At that time my

clean playing was down to a minimum; everything else was shredded cheese!

Nickel-plated .11-.49 are my favorite strings on a Strat with single coils.  They help cut back on some of that single-coil bite, and their distorted sound is actually pretty chunky (obviously more-so with humbuckers).

I stopped using a floating tremolo in the early 90's (still have Floyds on all my guitars - bolted in), but i still need to use .11s.  In some bands we'll tune down a half step and the .10s are too watery for me.  I also use .11s when i have a guitar that is tuned open and down (dgdgbd, dadf#ad).  When i know i'm gonna be playing slide i make sure and put .11s on!

Like the EXL110s, i have used the EXL115s in every possible situation and they have never let me down.  No weirdness or surprises.

There is one noteworthy thing that affects whether i buy D'Addario EXL110s or Ernie Ball 2220s: I'll go through these "phases" where i like either the .49 better or the .48.
When a guitar is tuned down (open) the .49 is fine and i definitely like its sound (clean) better than a .48, but there is that subtle imbalance in the way they feel and it REALLY bugs me sometimes.
2220    = .11 .14 .18 .28 .38 .48
EXL115 = .11 .14 .18 .28 .38 .49

It's such a small thing but i guess i'm weird that way!
